The BUILDEXPO AFRICA - International Trade Expo on Building & Construction Products, Equipment. & Machinery, is Tanzania’s largest trade event held annually in Dar es Salaam. The exhibition attracts companies from more than 30 countries and visitors from all over East & Central Africa, thus giving exhibitors an excellent opportunity to explore several countries in one time.
Tanzania has emerged as a major regional trade centre and also is positioned to be a major gateway into the African continent. According to a recent report, the building industry in Tanzania is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 9.5%, driven by increased public and private investments in infrastructure development, urbanization, industrialization and housing demand.
According to the World Bank, Tanzania's imports of goods and services amounted to $10.9 billion of which $2.5 billion (23%) were imports of capital goods such as machinery, equipment, vehicles etc that are essential for the development of the building and construction sector. Tanzania offers a very friendly and business atmosphere to foreign investors. Duties are considerably low and re-exports to neighbouring countries are either very low or exempted.
